Thought I should share my formula to get unstuck and get going for Your Next Big Thing with you. Here it is:

  1. Embrace trial and error. Start. Then make progress as you go. Think Beta versions. You will never be able to foresee what the future holds for you. You need to take that first step anyway.
  2. Stay curious. Explore, discover, ask, keep ears and eyes open, talk to people, listen…
  3. Push opportunities. Opportunities are created. Meaning you need to take action. When you’ve created an opportunity, push it further by saying yes and see if you can create something even more out of it. Takes courage but I know you have what it takes!

Worth repeating: The biggest risk is not taking any risk. Our greatest enemy is stagnation. The world around you will change, no matter if you want it to or not. You have to change too. Change equals a certain amount of risk. Though, trying to stay the same is much riskier.

One of the things that stuck with me from Sime earlier this week, was Salim Ismail talking about how traditional organizations are organized for scarcity while exponential organizations are organized for abundance. We need to rethink traditional top-down structures that no longer work. I believe we’ll see completely new ways of organizing and working where more people run their own businesses working and cooperating on their own terms. I believe the opportunities to create the professional life you want have never been greater. And I believe we’ll all benefit from that.

Gave a keynote today about the amazing opportunity of being in between – in between jobs, projects, businesses…whatever. Great chance to course correct and make sure you create the professional life you want from now on. I firmly believe that “in between” is where magic happens. I’ve said it before but look what a blank space does with this word. Imagine what it can do in your life.

Tonight I will host my very first blab on the topic “The Beta Paradigm – Crackin’ the Code of Being Hired”. Me and my co-author of the book The Beta Paradigm, Per Frykman, will share our best ideas and success factors on how to get hired now and in the future. 7 hours to go 🙂

Most welcome to join us! Sign up here.

A wall is just a bridge on edgeways (En mur är bara en bro på högkant). That line from Swedish artist Emil Jensen has helped me walk pass barriers many times. Think about it – what if the thing that seems like an obstacle really is an opportunity on your way towards Your Next Big Thing? All you have to do is to turn it around.

Ever wonder how your life will be if you take the chance and set off for Your Next Big Thing? You’ll never know unless you try.

The new definition of entrepreneurship is all about seeing opportunities and having the courage to push them. Entrepreneurship is to stay curious, to continue to grow and make progress. We’re all entrepreneurs, born to be creative. No matter if you run a company or not, you need to nurture your entrepreneurial mind and set off for Your Next Big Thing.

Tonight we interviewed Gaudi for our book The Beta Paradigm. We thought the creator of the church in constant beta (La Sagrada Familia) could have a thing or two to say to us. “It’s impossible, he’s been dead for almost a century” you might think. I say, impossible is just a point of view 😉

Last thing to learn from Sagrada Familia, the church in beta, at least for now. I think the architect, Gaudi, heard quite a few times that he was crazy. I think quite a few people told him this project was impossible. I think he had a bunch of critics… Nevertheless he proceeded. Step by step. And now, we can’t say anything else than success. Something to keep in mind when you get questioned. If you’re about to disrupt traditional ways of doing things, you WILL be called crazy. And that’s a good thing.

Bonus: if you meet someone with a crazy but beautiful idea, support her/him. Letting Gaudi realize his progressive buildings was probably the best thing the city of Barcelona could do…
